Hi Johan, welcome on board. I'm in an internet cafe in the Blue Mountains NSW so there's no time just right now, but I'm back in Sydney for a few days off very soon. I'll get the chords for The Internationale posted up here on the songbook forum asap and then include it in the website Online Songbook as soon as I get back home from this current Oz tour. Cheers, Ally

Here's a chord chart for The Internationale. I play it in DADGAD using D shapes, capoed at the 3rd fret, so it's in the key of F.
Intro: D3 / A7 / | Gsus2 / / / | G3 / Gsus2 / | D5 / / / | x2
Verse: D / A7 / | Gsus2 / / / | A / / / | D / / / | D / A7 / | Gsus2 / / / | A / / / | D / / / | Gsus2 / A7 / | D / / / | Gsus2 / Em / | A7 / / / | A7 / / / | D / / / | A7 / / / | A7 / / / |
Chorus: D / / / | Gsus2 / / / | A7 / / / | D / / / | D3 / A7 / | Gsus2 / A7 / | Em7 / / / | A7 / / / | D / / / | Gsus2 / / / | A7 / / / | D / / / | D / A7 / | Em7 / Gsus2 / | D / /A7 / | D / / / |
With the strings tuned DADGAD, the shapes required are: D - 000200, D3 - 004200, D5 - 050200 A7 - X02002 or A7sus4 - X02000 or A5 - XO2202 Em7 - 222020 (barre the two lowest strings with 1st finger) Gsus2 - 550000, G3 - X20020
You can also play it in Drop D tuning (DADGBE) or simply use standard tuning with a normal G instead of a Gsus2. Up to you. DAGAD is the easiest option I think. There's a wee bass run I use in bar 3 of the intro. It sits in and around the two inversions of G I've indicated above, and you can see me play it via the YouTube video link attached to the Songbook. Let me know if you need the actual notes written out, y'all. Ally

Glad to help, Johan, and thanks for letting me know you've noted the new posting. The chords are done from memory here, on someon else's PC, so folk better check this chart for errors. It seems okay in my mind's eye though. Ally

hi, great interpretation of yours! I would be very pleased if you could note down the actual picking for me in a tab or notes, because i'm not that adept at hearing out such things... thank you in advance! greets from Germany, Max E

Sorry Jackatar and Egge, I'm afraid I only play by ear and I just don't have the ability or the web facility either, to post up tabs here. Chord shapes, tunings, and charts is the best I can manage unfortunately, but give it a go and don't hesitate to ask for help if it gets tough.
I'm sure if you tune your guitar to DADGAD and play the chords as shown on this thread you'll surprise yourself how well you can do it! I just make up the picking and strumming patterns as I go, so doing a tab for it would be almost impossible anyway.
Lately I've been doing The Internationale live with my band, The Malkies, in standard tuning using D shapes and capoing at the third fret. It's in DADGAD tuning on the new album but standard works fine, too. Great to hear from you guys, thanks for getting in touch both of you and good luck with the playing!

your version is great. actually i don't like that soviet orchestra versions because they were so military and so unorganic. your version is more humanic and real.
keep up good work.
greetings from istanbul.
by the way where can i find the whole lyrics of your songs? i'm from turkey and sometimes i can't understand your accent. thank you.

I'm always happy to send lyrics to anyone that requests them. Some you'll find some in the Online Songbook already and I often provide them in the booklet that goes with whatever album they're on. Less likely to do that now that sending lyrics on request has got so easy. Many thanks to the person who posted up all those Roaring Jack lyrics on the other page of this forum. Great work!! Anyway, send an email to alistair.hulett@gmail.com with your lyric requests and I can easily send them to you. Ally
